Boards and Committees of Pilgrim UCC
Board of Deacons Assist in worship including special services of Holy Communion and Baptism. Other responsibilities include helping to introduce prospective members and acclimate new members, supporting programs for outreach and growth and as much as possible, safeguarding the integrity of the members of this fellowship.
Board of Trustees Serve as stewards of the church properties and train and lead the church in its financial stewardship. Among their duties are the preparation of the church budget, raising funds authorized by the church, providing for maintenance, supervising expenditures and investments and providing for the auditing of all church financial books at least once a year. Volunteers are also sought for the Stewardship Committee, which assists the Trustees in the annual financial enlistment campaign and in general stewardship education and promotion.
Christian Outreach Committee Among their responsibilities are the communication of information about Our Church’s Wider Mission, coordination of special offerings, community outreach and interaction and Association and Conference activities.
Christian Education Committee This committee is responsible for providing religious education for youth and adults. Among their duties are organizing the church school, securing curricula, providing teachers, offering training, promoting and encouraging youth fellowship groups and promoting summer camps.
Music Committee The choir director, organist and minister are ex-officio members. The committee is concerned with the music life of the church. It serves to support the pastor and deacons regarding music in services, to oversee the hiring of church musicians and to support their ministry, to oversee the purchase of music, and to oversee the upkeep of instruments.
Fellowship Committee This committee shall plan social activities for the church and seek ways to provide fellowship for members, friends and prospective members of the church.
Pastor-Parish Committee This committee is a group within the church which helps support the pastor. Among the responsibilities of this committee are serving as a communication link between the congregation and the pastor, helping the congregation and pastor deal with conflict, acting as a sounding board for new ideas, monitoring the church’s evaluation of the pastor, making salary recommendations and helping assure that the church honors its commitment to the pastor.
Just Peace Committee Among their responsibilities are communication and coordination of activities concerning justice and peace issues.
Memorial Glen Committee It is charged with the responsibility for all aspects of the Memorial Glen, including record keeping, policies and procedures, maintenance, site selection, etc.
